The Bridge for Balkan Music

MOST – The Bridge for Balkan Music is a complex support strategy with a scope of 9 countries in the Balkan peninsula. Started in 2019 in a consortium of 10 organizations, coordinated by Budapest-based Hangvető, co-funded by the European Union, the project drew up a model for comprehensive regional development.

The mission of MOST is to boost the music market of the Balkans by connecting and supporting people in the world music market. We support artists, young managers, policy-makers, festivals and music venues to build a bridge connecting the Southeast European region and the global music market, a bridge made up of personal connections, experience and exchange.

MOST involved over 30 artists, 80 managers and 60 festivals & clubs and 20 policy-makers. They took part in international training and mentoring by the best in the industry, they met for networking and traineeships, and they rocked the most prestigious stages in the genre, from WOMEX through Budapest Ritmo to EXIT and Eurosonic, and this year Balkan Trafik too.

MOST has been crowned with a celebration of Balkan music at the BALKAN:MOST Showcase & Conference last year, in Veszprém, the European Capital of Culture in 2023.

Closing a remarkable 4-year journey with unforeseen success, MOST can boast 300 alumni, an even larger pool of professionals who aligned with the project’s mission, and a lasting impact that will continue to draw attention to the Balkans. It has also played a significant role in making Balkan world and folk music more desired and accessible on the world music market and beyond.
