Shota – National Ensemble of Songs and dance

KOSOVO*

Founded in 1950, the National Ensemble of Songs and Dance “Shota” was one of four National Ensembles of former Yugoslavia until 1990 (“Lado”- Zagreb, “Kolo” Belgrade; “Tanec”- Skopje and “Shota”- Prishtina).

During its existence, “Shota” had more than 7500 concerts in Kosovo, former Yugoslavia and throughout the world, in five continents. Participating in different activities, “Shota” has won several trophy’s, gratitude’s and awards in most prestigious world dance festivals such: Dijon (France), Istambul, Bursa nd Trabzon (Turkey), Marseille (France), Sofje, Plovdiv, Burgas (Bulgaria), Seoul (South Korea), Agrigente, Targjento, Apiro, Piana degli Albanesi, Ravena (Italy) etc.

Currently “Shota’ is considered and is acting as cultural Ambassador of Kosovo. By presenting treasure of folklore (songs and dances from different region) also different costumes and other values…
