Džambo Aguševi Orchestra

NORTH MACEDONIA
BRUSSELS De Brouckère • 29.04.2023
Dzambo is a gypsy trumpet player from Macedonia, originally from Turkey. He is accompanied by his “Orchestra”, between incandescent brass and irresistible rhythmic. With their breathtaking virtuosity and their communicative energy, they reinvent the gypsy traditions to the rhythm of their multiple cosmopolitan influences (Latin, Turkish, funk, jazz, rock).
A real star in the Balkans, Dzambo has won prestigious awards, from the Golden Trumpet Award at the Guca Festival in Serbia in 2012, to the Victoires de la Musique in Macedonia on several occasions as best Orchestra, best trumpet player, up to the WOMEX stage in 2014 (the World Music Exhibition). He is regularly solicited for new collaborations (Dubioza Kolektiv, Husnu Senlendirici…).
From humble beginnings in the small Macedonian town of Strumica to the conquest of stages around the world, the Džambo Aguševi Orchestra has risen to the top of the international music scene. Dzambo always uses his Roma heritage as the root from which he develops his own trumpet style and distinctive sound. This is an original show based on oriental Balkan melodies and new compositions by Dzambo.
