Foire du Livre

Courses of European languages, multilingual library, meetings with famous writers and debates about international cultural relations… This will be the offer of the EUNIC European Network of Institutes for Culture at Foire du Livre in Brussels (7-11 March, stand 113).

The yearly EUNIC publication, this year focusing on the links between culture and conflicts, will be presented to the public on Sunday 10 March (11:00, espace Forum), in a debate which will search for answers to these two questions: is there a European perspective for international cultural relations and how can European cultural institutes contribute to the development and the spreading of European values outside the borders of our continent?

The Romanian writer Varujan Vosganian will present the French translation of his Livre des chuchotements, on the occasion of a debate with the Spanish novellist Abilio Estévez about the wounds of the past. The debate will be chaired by the Belgian directorJosé Luis Peñafuerte, who won the prix Magritte for the documentary film Les chemins de la Mémoire, and will take place on Saturday 9th March (10:30, pavillon de l’Espagne). Maurizio De Giovanni, author of the most sold and appreciated police novels in Italy, will sign his books on Friday 8th March at 16:00. De Giovanni won the price Scerbanenco 2012 (the most important price for Italian literature in the category police novel) and his books are translated everywhere in Europe.
