Esztenka

11/19/2012 - Artists

Traditional Folk music? It grows in the villages like a grain of sand in an oyster.

The Esztenka trio – meaning ‘rocks’ in the Hungarian Csango-dialect – reveals a selection of these genuine pearls in the setting of a simple stage and modest arrangements.

Their repertoire is presented without mannerism and is faithful to their sources: the Csango songs and dance music.

The Csangos – which means ‘rambler’ in Hungarian – are groups of Hungarian people living in Moldavia, Romania and the very eastern margin of Transylvania, Romania. Due to their geographic isolation they have preserved an ancient traditional culture.

Agnes Szilagyi: vocals

Tamas Ferencz: kobza – traditional lute

Lehel Marko: violin

Performance: Friday December 7th 18.30 PM
