Together they go from Asylbek’s farm in the eternal winter of Siberia to the dusty steppes of Kazakhstan. Life is hard in those uninhabited territories. Ahysa and Asylbek will learn at their expense that environment has an inevitable impact on people. For Chaika, the Spanish film director Miguel Ángel Jiménez was inspired by Jonas Bediskten’s photographic project that showed kids playing with metal parts of rockets in Kazakhstan.   RHINO SEASON (Fasle Kardagan) TURKEY, IRAN – 2012 – 92′ – Version : OV st fr/nl Director : Bahman Ghobadi Screenplay : Bahman Ghobadi Cast : Behrouz Vossoughi, Monica Bellucci, Yilmaz Erdogan Production : Mij Film Sales : Amstelfilm Rhino Season is a true story based on the diaries of Sahel Kamangar, a Kurdish poet. He was sent to prison along with his devoted wife during the Islamic Revolution in Iran because of subversive poems. After being unjustly incarcerated for 30 years, Kamangar starts to look for his wife but she believes that he is dead. The film denounces a political injustice and a personal vendetta. Rhino Season is directed by Bahman Ghobadi whose brother was also wrongfully imprisoned in Iran.   ROCKER ROMANIA – 2012 – 91’ – Version :OV st fr/eng Director : Marian Crişan Screenplay : Marian Crişan Cast : Dan Chiorean, Alin State, Ionut Nicolae Production : Mandragora Sales : Les Films du Losange The Romanian Marian Crişan’s second feature film Rocker is a drama that explores the father and son relationship. Victor and Dinte are all but similar, yet Victor, an old penniless rocker, decides to help his drug addicted son prepare a punk rock live concert in a big city. The filmmaker and screenwriter Crişan won the Palme d’Or at Cannes for Megatron and the Special Jury Prize at Locarno for Morgen.
