The Amsterdam Klezmer Band story started in 1996. A few boys from Amsterdam with a Jewish background got inspired by the catchy sounds of Klezmer and Balkan music and started busking. Since that time the band has evolved into a seven-member band now representing the finest amongst the Klezmer and Balkan music scene in Europe.

So it’s 2012 and the Amsterdam Klezmer Band is very much alive! After their 2011 album “KATLA” was rewarded the German Phonographic Critics prize, the band is now celebrating their 15th anniversary with the release of their brand new live album ’’MOKUM”. This album proves the band didn’t lose a single bit of their unstoppable positive energy and productivity.

2012 will be the year in which Amsterdam Klezmer Band will perform over 40 concerts all over Europe. Apart from their most successful recent repertoire, they will bring a good deal of popular Amsterdam Klezmer Band evergreens from the last 15 years to the clubs, theatres and festivals.

Sparkling Eastern European Jewish party music from Amsterdam that will make you dance untill you drop or shad a coincidental tear. Their respectable live reputation brought them to 28 countries all over the world.

The Amsterdam Klezmer Band recipe is highly rated by a remarkable variety of people. They performed at famous venues as Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Paradiso, Cité de la Musique in Paris and big festivals like Hong Kong Jazz, North Sea Jazz, Lowlands and Sziget Budapest . Many years on the road shaped this band into a firm collective,representing the finest amongst the Klezmer and Balkan music scene in Europe.
